Respite
Respite - a short period of rest or relief from something difficult or unpleasant.
Today, I’ll be delving into what has been going on in my thoughts and heart for the last two weeks. Although the definition states a short period of rest or relief, saying goodbye to a dear friend of ours into a permanent respite has been at the forefront of our prayers. We also visited family, taking respite from our usual day to day routine. During this time, I thought of two things: the meaning of life and daily/weekly ways to stay in the moment.
The meaning of life: how would you want to be remembered after your passing? What legacy do you want to leave? These are rhetorical questions for you to ponder because the answer is in this very important statement: Live in the now, in the moment, and make everything special. Well, I know for me, that’s not easy. I have small children to care for, laundry, dishes, cooking, etc. So, I admit I have not yet formed the habit of finding joy in these seemingly mundane daily tasks. However, I will say that when I am teaching my sons to help me with these things, there is joy in those interactions. This leads me to think about the importance of relationships. I am an empath, which means that I take in others’ feelings as my own - all of them - happy, sad, etc. This is a gift and a burden sometimes. I am continuously learning to navigate this. This is one of my attributes for you or your company hiring me for educational services. I will do everything in my power, through this nurturing and passionate personal characteristic to help you achieve your goal. But when I think about the meaning of life, I think about how important it is to have peace in all of my relationships. Did I say the best things at the best times? Did I encourage and help as much as I could? Did I apologize and have difficult conversations to indicate the importance of those relationships? I believe, herein lies the meaning of life.
How to stay in the moment: I’ll say it again - this is difficult for me. But I’ve read how anxiety is based in future thinking so my staying in the moment helps significantly with subduing anxiety. I do several self-checks a day based on emotions. Prayer, exercise, and journaling (which I need to re-establish as routine) are three of my main daily sources of living in the moment. While I pray and journal, I am actively engaged in gratitude. When I exercise, I release all the chemicals that neurologically make me more joyful. Everyday, as mundane as I can describe it to be, is truly a different experience. Just resting in the variety of each day, gives me a basis for gratitude.
So, this relates to Education Mosaic because I’ve had respite from my company - which in no way is unpleasant, but it is difficult. Everything that I pour into this entrepreneur life takes a lot of time and energy. But I am ready to begin my next course - Brasileirinhos Speaking English: a course for Portuguese speaking kids to learn English in a fun, interactive way. I will also have new themes for my social media posts, and blogs, as well as writing my ebook, working in my facebook groups (Meaningful Multicultural Materials (https://www.facebook.com/groups/659241158467335) & Brasileiros Speaking English (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1199725994177034/) and upcoming online self-paced course options. As always, I am available for individual one-on-one services for your next level educational goal! Please subscribe to my newsletter for the most recent updates! Have a nice day - stay in the moment!
